MAIN GALLERY: AARON T STEPHAN CEMENT HOUSES AND HOW TO BUILD THEM thru Oct 11, 2017
Portland-based sculptor Aaron T Stephan’s brick-by-brick recreation of a facade of an early 1900s Sears, Roebuck and Co. Cement Block House dialogues with ideas surrounding the American Dream of home ownership in the twentieth century, the collapse of the U.S. housing market at the beginning of the twenty-first century, and recent development booms across cities like Miami.
PROJECT ROOM: FRANKY CRUZ VIVARIUM MECONIUM thru Oct 11, 2017
Miami-based artist Franky Cruz artistic and conservation-minded practice borrows from a diversity of interdisciplinary media. For his installation in Locust Projects’ Project Room, Cruz will don the hat of entomologist, cultivating butterflies from egg to chrysalis in an enclosed, vegetal environment/lab.

Art on the Move: Intergalactic Soul II featuring Charlotte-based artists Marcus Kiser and Jason Woodberry is the latest in Locust Projects’ ongoing series of temporary public artworks conceived for bus backs, taxi tops, billboards and rooftops. As creative collaborators and self-described sci-fi nerds with a mutual love of comic books, Kiser and Woodberry’s ongoing series tells a story of tolerance in racial tensions and to demonstrate sensitivity and empathy.
