ABOUT LOCUST PROJECTS
Locust Projects is an alternative visual arts exhibition space
that produces and presents site-specific contemporary installation,
media, video, and performance artwork. A unique nonprofit
arts center, Locust Projects is dedicated to investing in
the powerful and often under-represented projects that are
dismissed by traditional galleries and museums.
These exhibitions feature experimental art projects to the
community and expand the significance of local emerging artists
through presentation with prominent national and international
artists in two person collaborative shows. As the leading
alternative space for visual arts in South Florida, Locust
Projects and its programming has filled the void for non-commercial
gallery space devoted to contemporary visual art in our region.
All exhibitions are free to the public and held at Locust
Projects warehouse gallery in Wynwood, located near
Miamis Design and Media/Production/ Entertainment Districts.
The show space is 1,800 square feet, with uninterrupted walls,
concrete flooring, halogen lighting and large warehouse style
doors with a completely open attitude and creative staff.
In addition to the art shows, locustprojects.org website has
become a vital accompaniment to the exhibitions, offering
a new media platform for the artists working in the space,
as well as offering a comprehensive overview of past programming
and a rotating digital exhibition space.
