Dear artist community,

With artists at the center of all we do, Locust Projects is gearing towards a return of one of our most important community fundraising events of the year, Spring Fling! Back for the first time since pre-covid in 2019.  

The 2024 Spring Fling will take place on Saturday, April 20 from 6-10pm will feature our largest Silent Art Auction to date, and this year with feedback from our artists community, we have adapted the format so that participating artists can opt to receive 50% of the final sale bid and remaining proceeds will support Locust Projects' commissioned exhibitions, artist resources and public programs. 

If you would like to participate in the 2024 Spring Fling Silent Auction, you just need to follow the next steps:

TO PREPARE

·       Have your artwork information ready, including images. 

TO DONATE

1.     Register on GIVESMART - no fee to apply 

2.     Go to  > LOCUST PROJECTS GIVESMART PAGE

3.     Click > DONATE ITEM NOW and fill out the form

·       Item NameTitle of artwork or "Untitled" by Artist Name 

·       For Description, copy-paste and fill out the following bullet points into the form:

o   Artist:

o   Title:

o   Year:

o   Medium:

o   Dimensions: __ x __ inches (height x width)

o   Description: (About your work and the work offered - Min. 100 words | Max. 150 words)  

o   Artist website or Instagram: 

o   Percentage: (Choose one of the following options; your selection will be displayed to the public)

To draw a large diverse audience and excitement around the event, this year's theme is Casino de Monte Carlo featuring a gaming parlour and entertainment along with artist activations. Admission prices start at $125 for early access, $150 regluar price, $175 at the door.  The night will feature a casino parlour for ticket holders to play for our editions and experiences, in addition to a bar by Bacardi, bites, and entertainment throughout the night.  Silent Art Auction items will be displayed in our 2,500 sq ft Main Gallery.

It would mean so much if you would consider participating in the Silent Art Auction during Spring Fling for the first time in our new home.  Up to 200 artworks will be selected with submission open on Saturday, Feb 24 accepted proposals will be notified on a rolling basis through March 24.


Criteria for selection includes: 

 

-       Local and national are welcome to participate

-       Artists will be notified about the approval of their proposal on a rolling basis

-       Successful proposals will be determined by the qualities of the artwork submitted

-       Editions and multiples are welcome; original works are highly encouraged for submission

-       The selection committee involves staff, artists, and other members of the art community

-       Each committee member will evaluate a group of submissions, sets are assigned randomly to each volunteer

 

Selected Silent Art Auction participating artists are granted complimentary access for them and 1 guest to the event. 

IMPORTANT DATES

February 24-March 24: Open Call

March 16: deadline to receive works that require framing

March 24: Applications Close

March 30: Deadline for receiving works for onsite display 

April 6: Online Auction Preview Opens  

April 13: Works on view onsite at Locust Projects and online for a minimum of one week prior to the event; Buy Now option available

April 20: Spring Fling! 

OTHER DETAILS

·       Ticket holders will access a Buy Now option at 150% of the Estimated Market Value before the event day; Host Committee and Locust Projects Members have First Look access at a special preview cocktail. 

·       Bids start at 70% of the Estimated Market Value

·       For artists interested in donating more than 50% of the final sale, you can choose to donate 75% or 100% to Locust Projects when filling out the donation form

·       For those artists who generously donated artwork for the postponed Fall Fundraiser: 

o   Please respond to this email with the percentage you would like to receive and/or donate to Locust Projects

o   If you would like to change the artwork you proposed donating, please walk through the next steps and notify us by email you have changed your selection - we will arrange return of your art work as needed.

·                The Silent Art Auction will take place online and onsite; free shipping   available for onsite works on a case-by-case basis.

·                Limited free framing depending on dimensions and date of submission.

·                Collectors will pay for shipping if the artwork is located outside of Miami

Dade County.

·                Shipping and framing details may change.
