LAB 2019’s Mentor Breakfast welcomed over 30 leaders in the arts community, including professional artists, teachers, and other creative professionals. Visitors received an exclusive sneak peek of the exhibition in progress, and were able to have an intimate meet and greet with the student artists. Visitors were provided a set of “ice-breaker” questions to jump start their discussions with students. Students presented their works in process, even working on their projects live while they described their creatvie process and thoughts behind their work. Students were encouraged to talk about their individual artworks, process, and the themes and ideas behind the exhibition as a whole, as well as to ask questions and receive insight about their future career goals and artistic aspirations. The event served as an opportunity for the students to network and learn more about arts careers while becoming more comfortable speaking about their work and developing confidence in displaying their work to the public. Visitors of the LAB Mentor Breakfast returned for the Opening Reception the following Satuday, viewing the works with a fresh behind-the-scenes perspective.
