Locust Projects’ R+D / Mobile Studio was launched by Locust Projects in 2018 to amplify Locust Projects as a hub and resource for artists. The R+D / Mobile Studio and new Screening Room positions Locust Projects as a jumping off point for delving into new projects, convening conversations that inform new directions, presenting curated video exhibitions of existing work inspired by current exhibitions.

Screening Room: Borders of Freedom
Sept 14 - Oct 12, 2019
Borders of Freedom features six artists living in El Salvador and its diaspora, whose work addresses the concept of freedom from different perspectives, connecting it with intimacy, spirituality, gender, migration and sociopolitical context. Angel Lauren Garcia - Blue Angel Side Show
September 2018
Angel Lauren Garcia will be researching mysticism in contemporary art as it relates to her own practice as well as its existence in history and current trends. Some themes she will be considering are oracles, shades of blue, and the collective unconscious. Her studio will become a mystical space where intuition and play are encouraged and also acknowledged from an academic perspective. The local community is encouraged to stop by to contribute to the creation of an oracle deck and to spend time discussing relevant topics in the space she will create.
Jamilah Sabur - Saint Cities
May 2018
Locust Projects presents Saint Cities a research project by Jamilah Sabur. For this project, Sabur has selected a team of students she has recently spent time with during her residency at Crisp Ellert Art Museum at Flagler College to join her in designing a collaborative project together. The only objective is that it must exist simultaneously across 4 Saint Cities: St. Augustine, San Diego, São Paulo, and Saint-Michel (Montreal). Sabur will occupy the R + D space May 12 – May 31 displaying the research gathered with the students. Recent works by the students will be presented in a salon-style in the R+D / Mobile Stuudio for the duration of her stay on site.
