Create and collaborate this summer with Locust Projects!
Applications open February 14, 2020 for the tenth year of Locust Art Builders (LAB), a four-week summer art intensive for teens with an interest in art, design and exploring creative careers.
Program Dates: Starts Wednesday, June 17 through July 10, 2020; Mon-Friday 9am-3pm.
Public Award Ceremony and Reception for Family and Friends: Saturday, July 11, 6-8pm
For four weeks, 25 young artists from high schools across Miami-Dade County work with established contemporary artists to learn about the practical and creative aspects of mounting a public exhibition in Locust Projects' gallery in the Miami's Design District.
Celebrating its 10th Anniversary year, LAB encourages students to develop ideas and work collaboratively. This unique, hands-on program invites creative teens to widen their perspectives, connect with peers and established arts professionals, learn about creative careers, build their portfolio, and gain the behind-the-scenes experience of producing an art exhibition from scratch. To apply, students must have completed at least one year of high school by June 2020. Rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders, as well as graduating 12th graders are all eligible to apply.
